Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Tammeni is a small, independent app made in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean the Tammeni team. You can reach us at hello@tammeni.app.

This policy covers the Tammeni Android app and this website, tammeni.app.

2. What stays on your phone

These are stored only inside the app on your phone. We can’t see them:

• your reminders: their words, notes, times and repeats;
• the names and phone numbers you type in for the Call and WhatsApp buttons (Tammeni never reads your phone’s contacts);
• your settings, such as language and simple mode.

They are kept out of cloud backups, and they are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.

Reminders are spoken by your phone’s own built-in voice. When you tap Call or WhatsApp, your phone’s dialer or WhatsApp opens with the number, and you make the call or send the message yourself.

3. What our server keeps

The free Basic level works on your phone alone: nothing about your reminders is sent to us. When you create or join a family circle, we keep:

• Your account: your name, email address and a user ID, from Google sign-in or an email sign-in link. With Google sign-in, Google also shares your profile picture link.
• Your profile: your language, and a notification token so we can send alerts to your phone.
• Your circle: its name, its members, each member’s role (for example, who set it up and whose reminders are shared), when they joined, and the circle’s plan.
• Your sharing choices: whether family alerts and the daily check-in are on, your check-in time, and whether family may set reminders for you.
• Invite codes: the code, who created it and when it expires (after 48 hours).
• Reminder status: for reminders shared with your circle, the time a reminder was due and whether it is ringing, done, snoozed or not confirmed. Never the reminder’s words.
• Daily check-ins: the day, and that you sent “I’m OK”.

Members of your circle can see your name, your sharing choices, your reminder statuses and your check-ins. No one outside your circle can.

4. Why we use it

• to run your circle: invites, members, and showing the family what you chose to share;
• to alert the family when a reminder or check-in isn’t confirmed;
• to sign you in and keep your account secure;
• to check that requests come from the genuine Tammeni app (Google Play Integrity) and to stop abuse;
• to manage your subscription.

We don’t use your data for advertising or profiling, and we don’t sell or rent it to anyone.

5. Payments

Subscriptions are bought and managed through Google Play. Google handles your payment details, and we never see your card. We only receive the status of your subscription, such as active, in trial or cancelled.

6. Services we use, and where

• Google Firebase (Google): sign-in (Authentication), circle data (Cloud Firestore), notifications (Cloud Messaging), app checks (App Check with Play Integrity), and feature switches (Remote Config, which holds no personal data). Circle data is stored in a Google Cloud data centre in the Middle East. Sign-in and notifications are global Google services, so some data may be processed in other countries, including the United States.
• Google Play: app downloads, subscriptions and payments, and anonymous crash statistics.
• Cloudflare: hosts this website and passes emails sent to hello@tammeni.app on to our mailbox.

These companies process data for us under their own security and privacy terms.

7. Voice and AI chat (coming later)

Today, reminders are spoken by your phone’s own voice, and nothing you say is recorded or sent to us. We plan to add more natural Arabic and English voices and an AI voice chat. When we do:

• the words a reminder should say will be sent to Microsoft Azure’s speech service to create the audio, which is then saved on your phone;
• if you use the chat, your voice will be sent to Microsoft Azure to turn it into text, and that text will go through our server to an AI service to prepare a reply;
• we will ask your permission in the app first, you can turn the chat off in Settings, and we will update this policy, naming every provider, before these features go live;
• we will never clone anyone’s voice.

8. What we never do

• sell your data, or share it for advertising;
• show ads, or use analytics or tracking tools;
• read your contacts, text messages, call log or location;
• track another person. In Tammeni, people choose to send their check-ins, and no one is watched in the background.

9. How long we keep it

• On your phone: until you delete it, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app.
• On our server: while your account is active. If you leave a circle, your membership, sharing choices, reminder statuses and check-ins in that circle are deleted. If you delete your account, we delete your account and server data within 30 days.
• Purchases: Google Play keeps its own purchase records under Google’s policies.
• Emails you send us: only as long as we need them to help you. You can ask us to delete them.

10. Your choices and rights

• See and change what you share at any time in the app, in Settings > My features.
• Leave a circle, or delete your account, in the app or by email. See Delete your account and data.
• Ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@tammeni.app. We’ll reply within 30 days.

11. Security

Everything sent to our server travels over encrypted connections. Server rules let only the members of a circle read that circle’s data, and our secret keys are never kept in the app. Data on your phone is protected by Android’s own encryption. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep as little data as we can.

12. Children

Tammeni is for adults aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we’ll delete it.

13. This website

tammeni.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking, and it has no forms. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. For important changes, we’ll also tell you in the app before they take effect.
